Autoclave Instructions

RULES:

- Check Status before use. These are located at the top of each autoclave and display either a red or green color based on whether they are operational or not. 

- Sign in on user sheets that are located next to each Autoclave. 

- Always Use a Tray

- Remove your items directly after cycle. These are used by the entire department and can get backed up if people are not efficient on getting their items out in a timely manner. 

- Don't directly cover drain

- Don't attempt to stop cycle once started. If an issue occurs email building services or contact tyler.denslow@med.fsu.edu

 

To start a cycle:

1. Place items in autoclave chamber. If you load is liquid it should be in a sealed container, or cover top with foil. If you load is garbage or bio-hazardous it should be in appropriate bag. 

2. Select your cycle. For liquids choose CYCLE 1 For large liquids CYCLE 2. For implements for empty containers use gravity CYCLE 3. And use CYCLE 4 for waste. 

3. Press start and and come back to check on your items regularly. When finished CLOSE DOOR. If the door is left open boiler will cool down and shut off.
