Connecting to the VPN

  1. Open the AnyConnect program on your computer

  1. Enter the server address “vpn.fsu.edu” and click Connect
    1. Important note: A second server, “vpn.fsu.edu/med” server is available and required for connecting to MED-only resources. However, it only has about 60 seats available on the VPN for any given time. Using this option restricts access for other users, and it is highly discouraged for regular use, and cannot be guaranteed to work if the 60 seats are already all in use. Access to the /med VPN profile may need to be granted, submit a IT Service Request if you need access.

  1. Login with your FSUID (NOT MEDID) and click OK

  1. You can open your system tray and click on the AnyConnect icon to verify that you are connect. Also go here to disconnect when you are done.

Map Network Drives on Windows

You may need to map a network drive while connected to the vpn.fsu.edu/med server, here’s how to map your H: drive. The same steps can be followed, replacing the Destination with any other network drive you have access to.

  1. Open your File Explorer and go to the “This PC” section.

  2. Click on “Computer” at the top and then click on “Map Network Drive”

  1. Select whatever drive letter you like.
  2. In the “Folder” section, enter the following
    1. \\cluster1.med.ad.fsu.edu\home\[username]
      1. Replace [username] with your MED username.
      2. Example: \\cluster1.med.ad.fsu.edu\home\austin.wolcott
      3. If this file path doesn’t work, contact the Service Desk and ask what your Home folder network path is.
  3. Check the box for “Connect using different credentials”

  1. Click “Finish”
  2. Login with your MEDID username and password. Put “MED\” in front of your username.

  1. Click OK
  2. The drive will map and you can access the files on it as you would on a MED computer.
  3. Please copy any files you need to your Desktop or any other local drive, then disconnect from the VPN as soon as you can, to ensure other users may access it if needed.
