Network File Shares - Permissions Management

Data owners are able to manage the permissions of their network file share locations that were set up by MED IT. Follow the steps below to add or remove people who have access to your network drives. This is only available to the main owner of the data, as defined when the network share was requested.

If you should have access to manage data access but don't, please enter a Service Request.

If you would like a new network file share, please submit a New Share Request.

Manage File Share Permissions

  1. Start by going to https://account.med.fsu.edu/ and sign in with your MEDID username and password.

  1. Wait a few moments for the page to load. You should see a section called "My Managed Objects" with some groups within it.

  1. Look for the appropriate group for your file share. Most shares will have 2 groups associated with them, one for Read-only access, and one for Read+Write access.
  2. Click on the group that you'd like to manage the permissions of.
  3. You'll now see a "Members" area with a list of all people who have access

  1. You can click the "Add" button and type a person's name to add them to the access list.
  2. You can also check the box next to someone's name and Remove them from the list.

  1. When granting access to a new individual, it may take up to 2 hours before the changes are made. After this time, have the person that was granted access reboot their computer while at a College of Medicine location, for them to be able to use the new permissions.
