Body

Update as of July 31st, 2021:

The Migration has been completed. You are free to reorganize your folders within OneDrive however you like. If any data is missing, please contact the Service Desk immediately so we can get it to you before the data in it's old location is deleted.

Update as of July 23rd, 2021:

Access to your H drive has been removed. All your data is located on OneDrive now. Please sign in to your FSUID@fsu.edu in the OneDrive program. You will see a folder called "Med Home Folder" which contains all your data.

We ask that you do not move files around in your “Med Home Drive” folder until the migration work is complete early next week. You can open and edit files, but please don’t move them. Moving files will result in duplicate copies of your files being created. We will send a follow-up email letting you know when the process is complete.

Home Drive to Onedrive Migration:
This weekend, MED OIT is moving away from using “Home Drives” (aka the H:/ Drive) to OneDrive. The migration work has been in progress for a while now, but we are ready to finalize things this weekend.

Starting today and finalizing on Monday July 26th, you will use OneDrive to access all the files you previously stored on your Home Drive (H:/).  OneDrive is already installed on all windows computers. Use your FSU email (fsuid@fsu.edu) to login to OneDrive. Once logged in, you will see a folder called “Med Home Drive.” You will find all your Home Drive files there. If you have other questions, please see the MED IT Knowledge Base for more information.

PLEASE NOTE: We advise that you make sure you are logged into OneDrive. After today, you will need OneDrive to access your files. We ask that you do not move files around in your “Med Home Drive” folder until the migration work is complete early next week. You can open and edit files, but please don’t move them. Moving files will result in duplicate copies of your files being created. We will send a follow-up email letting you know when the process is complete.

Once this work is complete you will be able to open Microsoft Office files directly from your OneDrive and they are automatically saved and capable of co-authoring/co-editing with colleagues.

These changes to OneDrive apply only to Main Campus Faculty and Staff for now. RMSC Faculty and Staff will be migrated at a later date. Students continue to use OneDrive like you always have.

YOUR MY DOCUMENTS ARE MOVING TO ONEDRIVE
Over the next several weeks we will be migrating your My Documents folder, or "H Drive", to OneDrive

MED OIT, in combination with University IT, will be migrating your My Documents folder to OneDrive over the next several weeks. You will see a folder in the top-level of your OneDrive that is labeled, "MED Home Folder", this is where your files will be migrated to.

In order to ensure that all of your files are migrated successfully we ask that you please read this entire email. Please refrain from utilizing the folder inside of OneDrive labeled "MED Home Folder" for the next few weeks, until notified that it is ready to be used. You may continue to use your My Documents, or H Drive, as you normally would for now. We anticipate that the migration will be complete on July 6th.

Please begin to familiarize yourself with OneDrive as this will be taking the place of your current My Documents, or H Drive when the migration is complete.

Why are you changing where my files are located?
•    You have told us that the file synching that we use often has problems, and OIT is happy to provide a solution to these issues.
•    This solution will also provide access from multiple devices, including the ability to access your files from a web browser.
•    This solution will save the College of Medicine fiscal resources.

Will all of my files be migrated?
Yes, we anticipate that all of your files will be migrated.

Do I need to do anything?
•    Please ensure that you do not have any existing sync errors with your files by following this guide: https://fsumed.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/2884/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=132791
•    Please login to OneDrive and ensure that you are ready to use it with your files. Please refrain from utilizing the "MED Home Folder" for now though.

Does all of my data need to reside within the "MED Home Folder" folder?
No. Please feel free to create as many folders in the top-level of your OneDrive as you would like. OIT chose to sync your existing My Documents to the "MED Home Folder" to provide clarity, and to ensure that anyone that is already using OneDrive would not have their existing folder structure disordered.

What if I do not see any data inside of the MED Home Folder on OneDrive?
Please refrain from using the "MED Home Folder" until it is ready to be used. It may take longer for some individuals to have their data migrated, though we anticipate that all migrations will be complete on July 6th. OIT will send another announcement when you can begin using the "MED Home Folder".
